FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
IS IT TRUE THAT MOST ALARM SYSTEMS HAVE FALSE ALARMS?
- NOT TRUE. After familiarizing yourself with your new system (we will help you through this period), you should NOT have any false alarms. Most false alarms are due to poor installation, the installation company not having the experience or proper knowledge regarding which equipment is best suited for you, or the alarm company not properly instructing the customer in using their new systems.
ARE SPECIAL PERMITS REQUIRED FOR A SECURITY SYSTEM?
- The State of Oregon requires an electrical permit for most installations. We will obtain this permit for you if you wish.
WHAT TYPE OF WARRANTY COMES WITH A SAFEGUARD SYSTEM?
- Safeguard stands behind the products it installs. Safeguard's warranty covers 1 year parts and labor.
YOUR WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:
- Damage resulting from accidents, Acts Of God, alteration, misuse, tampering or abuse.
- Failure of the customer to properly follow operating instructions provided by Safeguard at the time of installation or at a later date.
- Trouble due to interruption of power or to the phone service. You may also purchase Safeguard's Quality Service Plan. This plan begins at $5.00 per month and covers any labor or repair fees necessary to repair your system. Certain restrictions may apply.
ARE SYSTEM ONE AND SYSTEM ONE PLUS, SAFEGUARD OWNED OR AM I ACTUALLY
PURCHASING THE SYSTEM?
- You are actually purchasing the installation and use of the system that remains Safeguard-Owned. The advantage is a lower upfront cost when installing a system.
WHAT IS THE INSTALLATION FEE?
- The installation fee is an upfront cost charged at the time your system is installed.
WHAT IS THE MONITORING FEE?
- The monitoring fee is to provide electronic signals, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from your alarm system to Safeguard's Central Station. The Central Station is CSSS. The Central Station will then take appropriate actions to verify and address emergency conditions. The monitoring may be paid monthly, quarterly or annually.
WILL SAFEGUARD MONITOR MY EXISTING SYSTEM?
- Safeguard may monitor your existing system depending on your existing equipment and contractual obligations. It would be unethical for Safeguard to monitor and/or service a competitors system.
CAN ANY CONTRACTOR INSTALL AND/OR SERVICE MY SYSTEM?
- The State of Oregon requires that in order to work on electrical equipment, both the contractor and the service personnel must have a valid electrical license issued by the State of Oregon. To check licensing of an individual or company go to our LINKS page.
WHAT IF I WANT TO PROTECT MY VACATION OR SUMMER/WINTER HOME AND I
HAVE THE TELEPHONE SERVICE DISCONNECTED OFF SEASON OR HAVE NO PHONE
SERVICE?
- Safeguard can monitor your home without a telephone connection through the use of CellemetrySM communications. This is an additional feature that we can provide that costs less than your phone service. This may also be used as a backup to your existing monitoring for a higher integrity security installation.
HOW WILL I BE BILLED?
- You begin to pay for security service when your system is activated (first signal to the Central Station.) The installation fee is due upon completion of installation. You may elect to pay the monitoring fee, monthly, quarterly or annually. You may indicate your preference on your contract.
HOW LONG IS MY CONTRACT FOR?
- The contract for System One and System One Plus is 36 months. Other system contracts may vary from 12 months to 36 months.
WHAT ARE SAFEGUARD'S SERVICE HOURS?
- Safeguard provides service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
HOW LONG WILL AN INSTALLATION TAKE?
- The time required will depend upon the complexity of the system along with the readiness of power outlets, phone lines, etc. A typical installation will take 4-8 hours.
